  • Agatha Caulfield first started writing in 1946.
  • Agatha Caulfield's name is a likely reference to British crime author Agatha Christie; and Holden Caulfield, the protagonist/antihero of J.D. Salinger's 1951 novel 'Catcher in the Rye'. Despite this however, she is completely fictional and according to Craig she is inspired by children's book authors such as Dr. Seuss.
  • During his book reading in Mr. Simmons's class, Arnold's book is called "The Little House By The Dairy", a likely reference to Laura Ingalls Wilder's book "Little House On The Prairie".
  • Grandpa sings "Oh, You Beautiful Doll", but makes up the rest of the words.

Goofs

  • Arnold's flier lists a phone number: 555-123. Phone numbers in the United States must have at least 7 digits.
  • When Agatha is telling Arnold why she stopped writing, the paper in typewriter says "Once upon a time there was a xx#w+rrvv!!" and "there" is spelled "ther."
